Red Deer RCMP is investigating after a woman was allegedly stabbed in the neck inside of a local grocery store this past week.

At about 12:20 p.m. on Friday, police were called to the Real Canadian Superstore, on 51 Ave., where there was a reported stabbing.

Police say an investigation revealed that a 23-year-old woman had “a confrontation” with a suspect in one of the store’s aisles.

At one point, the suspect lunged at the victim and stabbed her in the neck, RCMP claim. The victim was taken to the hospital where she remains in stable condition.

Police are asking the public to help identify the suspect. She is described as female with a light complexion and light brown hair. The suspect was wearing a black jacket, black pants, white boots and a white hoodie, and she was seen with a male associate while in the store.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Red Deer RCMP at 403-406-2200. To remain anonymous, people can contact Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477, online at www.P3Tips.com or by using the “P3 Tips” app.
