Red Deer RCMP have obtained surveillance images of a truck that killed a pedestrian in a hit and run Sunday night.
Red Deer RCMP said at 8:45 p.m. police responded to the 5200 block of 76th Street where a 38-year-old man was struck. The victim had been standing by a parked vehicle, not in the traffic lane, when he was hit.
The suspect truck is described as an older model – possibly ‘70s or ‘80s – with a red cab, amber lights on the roof, and a homemade or custom built wooden flatbed on the back that is painted black.
The truck lost its passenger side mirror in the collision and sustained damage to the passenger side of the wooden flatbed.
“The photos we’ve obtained aren’t great quality, but they do show how distinctive this truck is, and we’re hoping that sharing them will trigger someone’s recognition or memory,” says Sgt. Kevin Halwa of the Red Deer RCMP traffic unit.
“This hit and run resulted in a tragic and unnecessary loss of life, and we’re asking Red Deerians to help us in our work to locate the person responsible.”
