Red Deer RCMP respond to fatal hit and run Sunday night

Police continue to investigate

A pedestrian died after being hit by a vehicle in Red Deer on Sunday night.

Red Deer RCMP were called to the scene near the Tim Hortons at 4217 50th Ave. at 9:07 p.m. According to witnesses, a vehicle was driving southbound when it collided with the pedestrian. The driver of the vehicle fled from the scene.

The 32-year-old man, of Red Deer, who was struck died as a result of his injuries.

The driver later turned himself into police, and has since been arrested. Charges are pending

RCMP continue to investigate the collision.
