Red Deer RCMP searching for driver who fled arrest, almost hitting officers

A driver who was told by Red Deer police he was under arrest, fled the scene Thursday afternoon, nearly hitting RCMP members.

A driver who was told by Red Deer police he was under arrest, fled the scene Thursday afternoon, nearly hitting RCMP members.

Shortly after, police received several calls of an erratic driver who was reported to have hit parked vehicles and almost collided with a child pedestrian.

Police have located the vehicle, but are still searching for the male driver. The suspect was last seen in the Riverside Meadow area of the city.

Police had been investigating a stolen property complaint in the 4000 block of 41st Avenue at around 4:22 p.m.

During the investigation, police spotted a vehicle with a stolen licence plate near the property. There was a driver inside.
