Red Deer RCMP seek public assistance after hit and run with pedestrian

A hit-and-run collision sent a pedestrian to hospital Monday evening in Red Deer.

The pedestrian was crossing the southbound lanes of Gaetz Avenue shortly after 5 p.m. when they were struck by an older model, four-door silver Pontiac Grand Prix, police said Tuesday.

After striking the pedestrian, the vehicle reversed and drove eastbound on 43rd Street.

The pedestrian was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A front headlight of the vehicle was broken during the incident. The driver is described as an older male with white scruffy hair and wearing a red plaid jacket.

Red Deer RCMP are asking anyone who may have information related to this incident, or who can identify the driver, to contact the detachment at 403-343-5575.
