Red Deer RCMP seek witnesses to sexual assault

Witnesses are being sought after a woman was sexually assaulted, says Red Deer RCMP.

Police are looking to identify two women who may have witnessed the incident, which occurred at East 40th Pub on the night of Feb. 19.

Around 8:30 p.m., a woman entered the bar and ordered a drink. After the drink was left unattended, the woman returned and consumed the drink. She then became lightheaded and wasn’t able to account for a period of time.

RCMP believe a substance to impair the woman was added to the drink without her knowledge.

Two women later found the victim in the women’s washroom. These two unknown women provided her with aid and may have witnessed a man exiting the washroom.

He is described as Caucasian, five-foot-six and was wearing a black shirt and black toque.

Red Deer RCMP is investigating this incident and would like to speak with these witnesses.

Anyone who was at the East 40th Pub on Feb. 19, between 8:30-10:00 p.m., or has any information about this event, is asked to call Red Deer RCMP at 403-343-5575.
