A man has been arrested and charged following a Red Deer RCMP investigation that began last summer.

In July 2022, police received information concerning criminal activity at an address in the city’s Upper Fairview neighbourhood. Red Deer RCMP Crime Reduction Team then launched an investigation.

The team, with the assistance of the Emergency Response Team, Red Deer RCMP Police Dog Service, and Red Deer RCMP General Investigation Section, executed a search warrant at a residence this past November.

The search resulted in the seizure of more than 77 grams of methamphetamine, more than 220 grams of fentanyl, 350 ml of GHB, numerous items of stolen property and a restricted firearm.

Further investigation led to the arrest of a Red Deer man, who was located by Red Deer RCMP this past Thursday. He has been charged with 12 criminal offences, including possession of methamphetamine and fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of a restricted firearm and possession of a stolen Canada Border Services Agency ID badge.

A judicial interim release hearing was held and the man was held in custody, to appear in Red Deer Provincial Court on Friday.

Red Deer RCMP continues to investigate this matter and further charges are anticipated.
