Red Deer RCMP recovered 2.9 kilograms of fentanyl from a hotel room in the north end of the city and arrested a 30-year-old Edmonton man as a result.
Police were called to the motel by staff on Wednesday afternoon after an unidentified powder was found in a room. Officers identified drug paraphernalia and suspected the power was fentanyl.
Thursday, the Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response team began their investigation and confirmed the presumptive presence of Fentanyl in the substance located inside the motel room.
The man appeared in court on Friday.
