Red Deer RCMP seize guns and ammunition

No one injured, no guns discharged in incident

Four firearms and more than 1,000 rounds of ammunition were seized by Red Deer RCMP on Sunday evening at a Vanier Woods residence.

RCMP said in a statement that officers attended an apartment building on Van Slyke Way at about 8 p.m. to investigate a report of a man believed to be in possession of a loaded firearm.

Police contained the area and made contact with the man, who was the only person in the residence. Police were admitted into the apartment without incident, where they seized four rifles, one of which was loaded, and the ammunition.

No one was injured in the incident and no firearms were discharged.

A 35-year-old man will face firearms charges, but charges have not yet been sworn before the courts.
