Unexpected bust: Red Deer RCMP seize loaded gun, weapons, bat on patrol

Red Deer RCMP have filed 58 charges against five people after seizing a collection of weapons in an unexpected bust.

Red Deer RCMP have filed 58 charges against five people after seizing a collection of weapons in an unexpected bust.

During a routine patrol on Dec. 12, RCMP came across an idling vehicle in an alley in the 4900 block of 47 Avenue.

A number of weapons were found in the vehicle including a loaded 9mm handgun, an extended baton, a bat, a pair of brass knuckles, a hammer, and three knives.

One of the five people in the vehicle was identified as a member of the Syndicate Red Deer Motorcycle Club, a support club for the Hells Angels.

The five men facing charges include Lester Acorn, 35, of Wetaskiwin, Michael Zwiggelar, 27, of Red Deer, Chasse Bare, 24, of Red Deer, William Vince, 51, of Red Deer, and William Johnson-Vince, 30, of Red Deer.

Acorn has been remanded and the other four individuals were released on bail with conditions of release. Court appearances begin on Jan. 8, 2021.
