Red Deer RCMP say two drivers were caught going more than 40 km/h over the speed limit.

Police issued a ticket at about 10 p.m. on April 26 to a driver who was allegedly going 146 km/h in a 70 km/h zone on 19th Street, west of 30th Avenue.

“There is no justification for driving at twice the posted speed limit – these drivers are putting everyone around them in danger,” said Sgt. Mike Zufferli, with the Red Deer RCMP traffic unit.

About 30 minutes later, police issued a ticket to a different driver who was allegedly going 111 km/h in the same area.

“Speeding is a serious safety issue, and we continue to work every day to address it, through enforcement and education,” Zufferli said.
