Canadian General Rick Hillier will be guest speaker at a fundraising RCMP Regimental Dinner in Red Deer on Jan. 23.
A Regimental Dining In will be held at the Red Deer Resort & Casino to celebrate the RCMP’s 150 years of service to the public. It will also raise money to support a local non-profit.
Proceeds from the event will go towards programs and services at The Outreach Centre in Red Deer.
The benefit dinner and silent auction will include a talk by special guest, retired general Hillier, one of Canada’s Top 5 speakers.
Former chief of defense staff of Canada, General Hillier oversaw Canada’s most important mission in Afghanistan. He also chaired the Ontario Covid-19 Task Force, and currently chairs the Ukrainian World Congress’ Strategic Advisory Council.
Supt. Holly Glassford of Red Deer RCMP said, “It’s an honour to support The Outreach Centre in this manner as we also celebrate RCMP’s 150th anniversary…We see the incredible value The Outreach Centre provides to our most vulnerable.”
The centre serves individuals and families across central Alberta, supporting them in their pursuit of healthy relationships, mental well-being, housing stability and self-sufficiency.
Ian Wheeliker, Executive Director of The Outreach Centre congratulated the RCMP on the force’s 150 Anniversary. He said, ”The RCMP have played a central role in the coordinated response to domestic violence. Their dedication and commitment to public safety and community partnerships is very much appreciated.”
