Red Deer RCMP warning pet owners after attacks on cats

Three cats injured, one so badly it had to be put down

Red Deer RCMP are warning the public after an “alarming” series of attacks against cats.

Police said they were called to a residence in the Michener Hill area around 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday after getting a report someone had grievously harmed a cat.

“During the investigation, RCMP learned that two other cats in the neighbourhood had been found beaten in previous days. One of the cats had to be euthanized due to the extent of its injuries,” said police on Thursday.

“Due to these troubling incidents, Red Deer RCMP are encouraging pet owners to take extra measures to keep their animals safe.”
