Toys for the Red Deer Christmas Bureau can be donated in various ways this holiday season.

Teddy bears will once again be tossed onto the ice at the Red Deer Rebels game on Friday night at the Peavey Mart Centrium. The Rebels are holding their annual Toque and Teddy Bear Toss when they host the Moose Jaw Warriors.

The annual event is in support of the non-profit that helps children and families in need during Christmas.

Fans at the game can bring toques, mitts, socks and teddy bears in plastic bags. They should wait for the Rebels to score their first goal of the game before tossing them onto the ice.

Game-time is 7 p.m. and tickets can be purchased through Tickets Alberta.

Red Deer’s Academy of Learning Career College is also giving back this holiday season by hosting a donation drive for the Red Deer Christmas Bureau.

The holiday season can be hard on families financially — especially those who lost their jobs during the COVID-19 pandemic – so the academy will be collecting toys at their Red Deer campus at 2965 Bremner Ave. for donation to the Christmas Bureau.
