The City of Red Deer is planning on opening new recreation and culture opportunities as the province moves into Stage 2 of its reopening plan.
Recreation and culture facilities open for pre-registered public use beginning on Monday, with registration starting on June 10.
“We are happy to be entering the next stage of the provincial plan, and to welcome our community back with added recreation and culture opportunities,” says Barb McKee, recreation superintendent. “Our opportunities continue to grow as we work within the provincial restrictions.”
Activities that will be open to the public include private swim lessons, lifesaving and aquatics leadership programs, lane swimming, water aerobics and public swimming at the Recreation Centre (both indoor and outdoor pools) and Collicutt Centre.
Fitness opportunities at the G.H. Dawe Community Centre, Recreation Centre and Collicutt Centre with additional outdoor and virtual opportunities as well individual activity reservations for sport opportunities in the gymnasium and fieldhouse for badminton, basketball, pickleball and volleyball and youth and adult team sport have access to indoor facilities will also restart Monday.
With construction on the Dawe Community Centre, its aquatic centre will reopen to the public in mid-August.
