City of Red Deer recreation centres will open for public use on July 1.
Regular operating hours will be reinstated with the lifting of most COVID-19 provincial public health measures.
This means all indoor activities will resume, including drop-in programs, public swimming, access to fitness equipment and sport activities, and room rentals for meetings and birthday parties.
After July 1, reservations will no longer be required for activities, with the exception of outdoor and virtual fitness programs.
As staff work to provide “a safe and welcoming environment” some reduced capacities will be necessary.
The City of Red Deer states “If further guidance is provided by the Government of Alberta specific to recreation centers, some services may change.”
Amenities such as water refill stations, lockers, towel service and spectator areas will be available, as will food service.
“This is what we’ve all been waiting for,” said Barb McKee, recreation superintendent. “Our staff are gearing up to welcome Red Deerians back to all the fun, active and creative opportunities in our culture and recreation facilities. We can’t wait to see you.”
