Two volunteers with Red Deer Regional Health Foundation were recognized as part of National Philanthropy Day on Nov. 15.
National Philanthropy Day, led by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), recognizes philanthropic individuals and organizations across North America.
AFP hosts award programs across Alberta and several of Alberta Health Services’ philanthropic partners nominated more than 20 individuals and organizations for awards.
Among the nominees were Debbie Coleman and Robert (Rocky) Rauckman who have dedicated the past 26 years to Red Deer Regional Health Foundation.
“The couple’s get-it-done attitude and genuine passion for supporting healthcare have proven instrumental in the success of the foundation’s Festival of Trees. With their support, the foundation has raised millions of dollars through this event for new equipment at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre,” said a statement from Alberta Health Services.

The National Philanthropy Day Award from the Edmonton & Area Chapter of the AFP was ultimately awarded to the Randhawa family. Alberta Cancer Foundation nominated the family to thank them for their fundraising efforts in memory of their late mother, Gurmeet Randhawa.
