Starting next week, the City of Red Deer will begin collecting green carts weekly.
The city said, as of April 5, green carts will shift back to weekly as seasonal yard waste increases.
“Now that spring is here and people will start doing more yard work, we are shifting back to weekly green cart collection,” said waste management superintendent Janet Whitesell.
“These seasonal changes in the Green Cart collection schedule support increasing the efficiency of the cart collection program, while still meeting the collection needs of our cart customers.”
Residents are reminded that if their green cart is full, extra yard waste can be set next to the full green cart for collection.
The city is asking Red Deerians to place extra yard waste one metre away from any cart in a paper yard waste bag, loose in a garbage can or small branches can be bundled and tied with string.
