The Red Deer Riggers have fought all the way back in the Sunburst Baseball League final.

Red Deer trailed the Edmonton Cubs 2-0 in the best-of-five series, with the winner advancing to the 2022 Senior National Championships.

The Riggers gutted out a 6-4 win on a cold and windy night in Sylvan Lake to keep the series alive, before forcing Game 4 with another 6-4 extra innings victory Thursday in Edmonton.

The win came thanks to a memorable and gritty performance from Josh Edwards, who pitched all nine innings in a complete-game effort. Edwards also pitched a complete game on Monday in a losing cause.

Rees DeRuyter will start on the mound for the Riggers Friday, as they look to capture their first league title since 2017.

Game 5 is Friday night in Edmonton, with first pitch set for 7:30 p.m.
