A member of the Red Deer Royals colour guard, above, hoists a flag. The Royals Marching Show Band will be auditioning new members for the 2010-2011 year on June 21 and 22. Youths between ages 12 and 20 can apply, providing they have played a band instrument for at least two years. No experience is needed for those who want to be involved in the colour guard; however, experience in gymnastics and dance would be an asset. Call Rob Goring at 403-343-2079 to book an audition time. The Royals will kick off Westerner Days parade on July 21 and the group will head to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia to participate in the World Championships for Marching Show Band in the summer of 2011.
