Red Deer Salvation Army providing assistance to seniors, families through adopt-a-family program

The Salvation Army in Red Deer will assist seniors and families through its annual adopt-a-family program this Christmas.

The initiative anonymously matches sponsors with registered families or seniors in need, providing toys for children and youths, a gift for seniors 60-plus and a Christmas dinner food hamper or gift card.

The deadline is Dec. 12, but sponsors can register until the need is filled.

Anyone in need of assistance this season, or interested in becoming a sponsor, is asked to call The Salvation Army at 403-346-2251.

The program is available for residents in Red Deer, Springbrook and Penhold.
