For an uplifting end to “an unbearably long year,” Red Deer’s Extendicare Michener Hill has launched morale-boosting staff holiday activities.

To ease COVID tension, the Extendicare team organized a project called the Twelve Days of Christmas, which aims to encourage strength through adversity for workers, who often working short-staffed.

Activity kicked off on the Dec. 13 and will last until Friday. Raffle draws are held during day and night shifts. There are also different theme days, allowing staff to dress up for a chance to win prizes.

“So far, the outcome of the almost two-week long event has been nothing but fun,” stated an organizer, who believes staff are enjoying themselves and passing this joy on to residents.

This is the very first time something like this was tried by Extendicare, but with this year’s success, the team is hoping these activities will become a tradition going forward.
