Red Deer shooting suspect arrested

Red Deer RCMP have arrested a man in relation to a March 29 shooting in Riverside Meadows.

On Saturday, police announced Brian Stephens, 40, of Red Deer, was arrested on Thursday with the assistance of ALERT and ERT.

Stephens is charged with aggravated assault, robbery with a firearm, six additional firearm charges and two counts of failing to comply. His next court appearance is Monday.

At about 5 p.m. on March 29, police responded to a report of a gunshot in the area of 54th Avenue and 59th Street.

Police say a 47-year-old Red Deer man, the victim of the targeted shooting, was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
