The Sobeys Village Mall grocery store in Red Deer re-opened Friday morning after having to temporarily close due to a sprinkler-system leak.

At about 4 p.m. on Thursday, a leak caused damage in the foyer of the store.

“Our trained team members were able to safely evacuate everyone from the store resulting in (zero) injuries,” a post on the grocery store’s Facebook page said.

“Thank you to the Red Deer firefighters for your fast response, the hard working crew of Paul Davis Systems and our amazing Sobeys team that worked through the night to clean up all the damaged ceiling tiles and water.”

The store was open again at 7 a.m. Friday.
