A man, charged with running in the buff Friday with a teenage girl near a community centre, was placed on probation Monday.

Shawn William Chenette, 23, of Red Deer pleaded guilty to a charge of indecency and was placed on probation for a year when he appeared in provincial court Monday. Two other charges were withdrawn.

A 17-year-old girl, who was also charged with indecency, makes her first court appearance on Aug. 14 in Red Deer youth court.

Chenette was charged with single counts of committing an indecent act, resisting arrest and escaping lawful custody.

The girl, who can’t be identified because of provisions in the Youth Criminal Justice Act, is charged with committing an indecent act and obstruction.

Cpl. Kathe DeHeer of city RCMP said Tuesday police responded to a call Friday about 6:30 p.m. that two people were running around nude near the Dawe Community Centre.

Two people ran in different directions when police arrived.

Chenette was arrested and placed in a police cruiser. When that officer went to assist in the arrest of the girl, a passerby let Chenette out of the cruiser.

Police had to track him down and arrest him again.
