Fake gun: Red Deer man arrested in Blackfalds gas station robbery

Police believe an imitation firearm was used

Blackfalds RCMP arrested a Red Deer man in connection to a gas station robbery last month.

The Petro Canada gas station in Blackfalds reported a robbery on May 21.

Investigating RCMP officers carried out three search warrants in the Red Deer and Blackfalds areas and seized a pick-up truck and a firearm believed to be involved in the robbery. After further examination, the firearm was determined to be an imitation gun.

A suspect was located and arrested without incident on May 31.

Michael Roesler, 45, of Red Deer, has been charged with robbery and using an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence. Roesler is in custody and will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court June 16.

A second suspect has yet to be identified. The incident remains under investigation.
