The City of Red Deer will conduct a recount of two voting stations following an isolated technical issue.

Electronic voting tabulator machines are used to calculate votes at each voting station in Red Deer’s election. A file error caused results from advance vote stations at Baymont by Wyndham Red Deer and The Mustard Seed to be unreadable, leading to a recount for both stations.

All ballots from both stations remain in sealed ballot boxes and will be submitted into new tabulator machines for recount this week, the city said in a release on Tuesday.

All candidates have been notified and the city will release the results of the recount on or before Friday at noon.

Unofficial results from all other voting stations were shared on election night and are available on the elections website at elections.reddeer.ca.
