Red Deer residents are being warned about bird cannon noises over the next several months.
The City of Red Deer said the Wastewater Treatment Plant will fire bird cannons to try and deter waterfowl from nesting on the site.
Starting next week, the plant will fire two cannons at random intervals from 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily. The hours may be extended in the summer with more daylight.
The cannons do not pose any danger to the waterfowl. Deterring the waterfowl from nesting at the plant site will protect them from equipment used in ongoing construction work.
