Red Deer Winter Carnaval 2017 is coming

Get ready to celebrate the snowy season at Red Deer Winter Carnaval 2017, from Feb. 24 to 25.

The Carnaval kicks off with the Sugar Shack Dinner on Feb. 24 at 5:30 p.m. at Festival Hall featuring a buffet-style dinner, live music and cash bar. Tickets are $25 per person for adults age 16 and older.

A $5 donation will be made to Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter for each ticket sold.

Tickets are available by calling the Association Canadienne-Française de l’Alberta Red Deer at 403-986-4350, École la Prairie at 403-343-0060, and abc Country Restaurant at 403-353-4280.

Carnaval family activities will take place indoors and outdoors at Festival Hall on Feb. 25, from noon to 4 p.m.

The Franco-Albertan flag will be raised, and Mayor Tara Veer and Red Deer North MLA Kim Schreiner will help launch the event.

Activities include face painting, a clown, winter games, along with maple taffy on snow, French-Canadian pea soup, and maple syrup pudding.
