A Red Deer woman was one of three people arrested in Sundre earlier this month.
Sundre RCMP received a complaint of several suspicious people at a business on May 15. Police say when officers arrived, they located a vehicle backed into a stall with two men and one woman “milling around.”
The three provided false names, but police were able to determine their identities.
The two men were wanted in connection to a car jacking in Drayton Valley, which occurred a few days prior, and the woman had numerous arrest warrants out of various jurisdictions.
All three were arrested. Police searched the vehicle, finding illegal drugs and weapons – the vehicle was also seized.
Red Deer’s Kiara Num, 19, is facing multiple charges, including unauthorized possession of a prohibited weapon, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and possession of cocaine.
The two men – Braidon Ophus of Calgary and Shawn Freake of Drayton Valley – are facing various charges as well.
“The assistance from the public was key in nabbing these three individuals,” said Cpl. Joe Mandel of the Sundre RCMP.
“We located numerous items in the vehicle that we believe are stolen and are attempting to follow up with the possible owners so there may be further charges related to possession of stolen property to come for these three.”
