A GoFundMe campaign is supporting a Red Deer woman whose father suffered a stroke in the Philippines.

Donna Boa’s father Eduardo, had a stroke on Jan. 9 and had surgery on Jan. 11, to reduce the swelling in his brain. He has been in the ICU for two weeks at Metro Lemery Medical Center, Batangas, Philippines.

He will need another surgery down the line and his medical bills have already exceeded $40,000. The campaign has raised $939 dollars so far.

“Any small amount is very much appreciated and can make a difference to help the medical expenses and medicines,” said Suzette Edgett, who organized the GoFundMe on behalf of the family.
