Viking dancers feature in the familiar tale of a princess who’s held in a tower when Rapunzel opens in Red Deer next month.
The Brothers Grimm fairy-tale Rapunzel will be staged by Cornerstone Youth Theatre like you’ve never seen it before. Yes, there’s an evil enchantress, who kidnaps a good-hearted princess with really, really long hair. There’s also an expected appearance by noble Prince Charming.
But singing and dancing bird girls — as well as Vikings and thieves — will enter this fanciful story about a young woman who falls in love and breaks free of isolation to find a more fulfilling life.
Some 62 young performers will help bring Rapunzel to the stage, and are excited to share this lively retelling of Grimm’s classic story. It runs from June 9 to 18 at the New Life Fellowship, 20 Kelloway Cres.
