Businesses in downtown Red Deer are being encouraged to apply for seasonal patio licence.

Warmer days are nearing and applications for Red Deer’s seasonal patio program are now being accepted.

Downtown businesses are encouraged to apply for a seasonal patio, which allows restaurants and entertainment venues to expand their floor space during the summer months.

“We’re pleased to be able to continue this program, which enables downtown businesses to increase their operating capacity while adhering to public health restrictions,” said Bobby-Jo Stannard, community development superintendent.

“These patios also add to vibrancy of the downtown core which is very positive to see.”

Business owners who submit an application for a seasonal patio are required to ensure their patio design meets building codes, and to ensure compliance with all public health orders and restrictions.

This includes ensuring that hand sanitizer is available for patrons, and that physical distancing is maintained.

Interested businesses can access guidelines and application forms at www.reddeer.ca/seasonalpatios.

There is no deadline for application.
