Planning for the 2021 Festival of Trees in Red Deer is officially underway — and volunteers are needed.

Organizers of Central Alberta’s Christmas community fundraiser, Red Deer Festival of Trees, announced details for the event in November on Thursday.

Ticketed events include Festival of Wines (Nov. 26) and Mistletoe Magic (Nov. 27) go on sale on Oct. 4 at 10 a.m.

The public can also enjoy the seasonally festooned Tree Room, a large silent auction, the Christmas Gift & Sweet Shop, and the perennial favourite for kids, Candy Cane Lane. All activities will take place on Westerner Park in the Exhibition Hall and Stockmen’s Pavilion from Nov. 26-28th.

Festival of Trees will raise funds to support the purchase of critically needed equipment for the operating room at Red Deer Regional Hospital Centre.

This year’s event will involve the collaborative efforts of over 1,000 dedicated volunteers.

Those interested can sign up now to work as a decorator, in food services, volunteer coordinating, or during setup and tear down. Volunteers are also needed in Raffle Alley, the silent auction, Gift/Sweet Shop, Candy Cane Lane, gate admissions, special events and other areas.

Anyone interested in volunteering for one shift or several is encourage to complete the volunteer form or reach out to our office through www.reddeerfestivaloftrees.ca/volunteer.
