Red Deer’s Randi Boulton, Justine Vandergrift and other female musicians will perform a free online concert Monday to mark International Women’s Day.
The annual concert had been held for almost a decade at The Hub on Ross. Although the gathering place was permanently shuttered by the provincial government, the Hub’s community still exists — as so does the intent to celebrate International Women’s Day through music.
Organizer Twyla Joy Lapointe said messages about female empowerment, living life to the fullest, and leading the way for young girls to follow their dreams will resound during he show, which can be viewed for free at 7 p.m. Monday on YouTube.
It can be accessed through a link on in the Facebook event page.
Vandergrift and her band will perform selections from her new CD. Boulton and other female artists — to be announced on Facebook leading up to March 8 concert — will also do their own sets. And radio host Suzy Burge will emcee.
Music will range from folk, roots, rock, classical, country, jazz, pop and blues.
Lapointe hopes Red Deerians will tune in to feel entertained — and inspired by the local talent.
