The Relay For Life is an annual event that takes place in communities all across Canada in order to raise money for cancer research and programs to support cancer patients. Cancer Survivors, their friends, families and communities, as well as those who have lost loved ones to the disease, gather to walk all night in relay teams to raise money. This year is the first time that Innisfail had its own Relay of Life. A total of 17 teams — 147 participants — began walking Friday evening and continued through the night into Saturday morning. They raised just over $67,000.
