WHITECOURT — Fish and Wildlife officers are trying to find out who was responsible for shooting a grizzly bear northwest of Edmonton.

The bear's remains were discovered Monday morning off Highway 32, southwest of Whitecourt.

The animal had been partially eaten, but officials say they were still able to collect evidence from the scene.

This is the third bear to be poached in the region this fall.

One was discovered near Hinton and the other was found in Fox Creek.

Authorities are asking area residents to check social media to see if anyone has posted photos of bears in the last few weeks.
