Grab your skates, swim suit and exercise gear — the city is hosting a free Discover the G.H. Dawe Community Centre event on Sunday from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Construction on the $44-million upgrade, which began in May 2021, includes two NHL standard ice surfaces, an expanded fitness area with state-of-the art fitness equipment, a 230-metre running track and two fitness studios, an additional north entrance with site access from 67 Street, and additional parking.

Other improvements include an accessible changeroom with mechanical lift, poolside party room, and multiple public art installations.

People are invited to stop by for a one-hour swim, watch a sledge hockey game at 11 a.m. featuring the Calgary Scorpions and Team Jigger, interactive arts activities, entertainment, and more.
