Reported suspicious activity leads to arrest

A Red Deer man is facing multiple charges after suspicious activity was reported in the Morrisroe neighbourhood this past Saturday.

A Red Deer man is facing multiple charges after suspicious activity was reported in the Morrisroe neighbourhood this past Saturday.

At about 6 p.m., Red Deer RCMP responded to a complaint of a suspicious person and vehicle. Police were familiar with the property from previous calls, including two abandoned stolen vehicles from the previous week.

When officers arrived, no now was in the suspect vehicle. But police could see a prohibited firearm inside the vehicle. Police attempted to speak with the occupant of the house, but they did not respond.

About an hour later, RCMP officer executed a warrant to enter a dwelling and arrested a 41-year-old man.

He is facing seven charges, including possession of a dangerous weapon, possession of a break-in instrument and possession of a prohibited firearm.

The man was remanded into custody and will appear in Red Deer Provincial Court March 28.
