Road conditions ‘very slippery’ from Red Deer to Canlgary: RCMP

Red Deer drivers heading south are being warned of the road conditions.

RCMP were advising motorists that QE II Highway from Red Deer to Calgary is “very slippery” Wednesday morning.

Police and emergency crews are on scene due to many collisions. Delays are expected, and travel is not recommended.

Red Deer residents can expect periods of snow to end Wednesday afternoon with 30 per cent chance of flurries, according to Environment Canada.

Wind northwest 30 km/h gusting to 50 will become light early this afternoon with temperature falling to -18 C.

Red Deerians can expect a low of -21 with a wind chill of - 28 C Wednesday evening and -22 C overnight. Winds will be gusting northwest 20 km/h before morning. Environment Canada warns of risk of frostbite.
