ROAD REPORT: First blast of winter strikes Central Alberta highways

Central Alberta got its first taste real winter weather for the season on Thursday morning.

Poor driving conditions were reported on many Red Deer-area highways, with slick road surfaces and reduced visibility due to blowing snow.

Today's Environment Canada forecas calls for about 2 centimetres of flurries and a northerly wind of 30 km/h gusting to 50 km/h.

Temperature are expected to falling to -4C this afternoon and tonight's expected low is -13C.
