Red Deer drivers are being advised of a couple of upcoming long- and short-term roads and utility projects that will cause traffic disruptions.

A 10-week disruption will occur at the intersection of Taylor Drive and 28 Street as crews complete road construction.

This project, which will result in intermittent lane closures and traffic delays, will start at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, and is not expected to be completed until 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 15.

A more short-term disruption will happen next week on 77 Street westbound, from the top of the hill to 50 Avenue, as crews work on water and sewer infrastructure.

Work will start at 7 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 2, and continue until 6 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 3. The westbound lanes will be closed, and traffic will be detoured through Riverside Drive and 67 Street.

In both cases, drivers are encouraged to take alternate routes where possible and are reminded to slow down and obey all signs when driving in construction zones. Pedestrians are reminded to cross only at designated crosswalks.

All road construction is weather dependent, and schedules may be subject to change. For information about road construction and closures visit www.reddeer.ca/roadclosures.
