A middle-aged man was assaulted and sustained serious injuries in Rocky Mountain House Thursday night.
The man, who had several facial fractures and possibly broken ribs, was discovered at 7:15 p.m. in a field between Rookies Lounge and the Rocky Mini Mart on 47th Ave.
He was taken by STARS Air Ambulance to a Calgary-area hospital.
Rocky Mountain House RCMP are seeking witnesses who were in the area at the time of the assault.
