Rocky Mountain House Forest area wildfire near Abraham Lake is being held

The wildfire is east of Abraham Lake and is 0.5 hectares in size and is being classified as held.

Thanks to the hard work of firefighters, the wildfire is not expected to grow past its established boundaries. Firefighters are still on site and continue to fight this wildfire, along with support from helicopters and airtankers as required.

The wildfire danger rating for the Rocky Mountain House Forest Area is rated ‘high:’ safe campfires are allowed, existing fire permits remain valid, fire permits will be issued on a case-by-case basis, permits for fireworks and exploding targets will not be issued.

Off-highway vehicles can start wildfires – check frequently to ensure hotspots are free of debris, and make sure mufflers and spark arrestors are working properly.

Never leave a campfire unattended. Soak it, stir it and soak it again to ensure it is extinguished.
