The case of a Rocky Mountain House man accused of murdering a woman and the attempted murder of her sister will return to court next month.

Marshall Lawrence Stone was charged after Rocky Mountain House RCMP responded to several calls around 7:30 p.m. on July 26 that a man was armed with a gun in a local residence.

When police arrived, they found Ashley Smith-Ames dead and her sister Alexis Ames suffering from non-life-threatening injuries.

Three children in the home, including Smith-Ames’s five-year-old son, were uninjured.

An autopsy determined Smith-Ames had been shot during what police described as a “domestic situation.”

Stone turned himself into police and was charged on July 27.

His case was in Rocky Mountain House provincial court on Wednesday and was adjourned until Oct. 23.
