Students at École Rocky Elementary School in Rocky Mountain House created a mural to commemorate 100 years of learning.
The mural is six feet by eight feet and was created using pieces of ceramic tile. It features the current school, the original Confluence School, the joining of the Clearwater and North Saskatchewan rivers, wild roses, forests, mountains in the distance, helping hands, a peace sign, voyageurs and the years 1921-2021.
Former student Vic Maxwell and current student Everlee Gage recently unveiled the mural, which will now be on display in the school foyer for years to come.
“Many thanks to professional artist Debra Bryan for leading us through the project. A big thank you to WRSD Facilities for framing and installing the mural,” the school said in a statement.
“We look forward to hosting our community at a memorable Centennial event in the spring 2022.”
