Rocky Mountain House RCMP have arrested a suspected drug dealer found in possession of cocaine, methamphetamine and a loaded handgun.

On Friday, RCMP officers were patrolling a so-called hot spot, where criminal activity has been noted before.

An officer spotted a suspicious vehicle and investigated with powers under the Traffic Safety Act. The driver was found to be a suspended driver and was arrested.

A search of the man and the vehicle resulted in police locating drugs, a loaded Sig Sauer handgun and a large amount of Canadian currency.

In a separate incident, Rocky Mountain House RCMP say they were pursuing a drug trafficking investigation when they executed a search warrant at a residence Friday.

A 42-year-old Rocky man was charged with possession of cocaine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of magic mushrooms and possession of proceeds of crime over $5,000.

A 61-year-old Rocky man faces smiliar charges.

Both men were released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Rocky Mountain House provincial court on Dec. 12.
