The Rotary Club of Red Deer has approved seven grants for non-for-profit organizations in Red Deer.

The seven not-for-profit groups receiving grants from the fall intake period include the Red Deer Community Band Society (formerly the Red Deer Royals), the Central Alberta Regional Science Fair, Red Deer Action Group, Red Deer Festival of Performing Arts, RedDeer YMCA Northside, The Sendero Centre (formerly the Central Alberta Sexual AssaultSupport Centre), and Central Alberta Women’s Emergency Shelter (CAWES).

The club will be giving out $32,000 in grant funding to the organizations.

“Every great community thrives when people come together to support one another. We believe Red Deer is a great community, and as Rotarians, we are proud to empower these local organizations to make a difference, said Vangi Willington, Chair of Community Service Committee, Rotary Club of Red Deer.

Rotary Club of Red Deer just celebrated 100 years of operation in Red Deer, and has raised money to support many organizations, causes, and projects in Red Deer, in Canada, and internationally. Since its inception, the Rotary Club of Red Deer has supported and invested more than $19 million into great causes and legacy projects, making Red Deer a better community.

Today, a substantial portion of their grant dollars comes from the sale of 50/50 tickets at Red Deer Rebels games. Rotary Club of Red Deer’s long-standing partnership with the Red Deer Rebels has benefitted many organizations in Red Deer over the years.

“The Rotary Club of Red Deer is proud to support these very worthwhile nonprofits and look forward to continuing to support the numerous charities and non-profits in our City. It is what we Rotarians do," said Phil Hyde, Co-President, Rotary Club of Red Deer.

The Spring granting intake period at Rotary Club of Red Deer has begun, and short form registration is open. Not-for-profit organizations must meet certain criteria to advance in selection.

Details about their granting process and the form are available on the Rotary Club of Red Deer’s website.
