When Salvation Army organizers decided to hold their first-ever annual Thanksgiving Dinner, they based their attendance on the turnouts that they usually get for the annual Christmas dinner. The 150-seat facility was filled to capacity within eight minutes after opening, and there were at least another 70 waiting to be seated. It was decided that those waiting had the option of taking their dinner home or waiting for a seat.
