The burner of the Air-ristocrat hot air balloon lights up Ross Street during the Santa Claus Parade Tuesday night.
The parade was part of the eighth annual Biggest Christmas Tree Festival, which included the lighting of Red Deer’s Biggest Christmas Tree outside the Old Courthouse, to kick off the 16th annual Festival of Trees.
Last year’s 24,000 attendees, 1,900 volunteers and 360 sponsors helped raise $735,000 for the maternal child program.
Funds from this year’s festival will purchase colonoscopies, monitors, stretchers, treatment chairs and camera banks for a new colorectal screening clinic.
